The VISX Star S4 Excimer Laser System with CustomVue
Richard N. Gordon, M.D.
Medical Director, Palisades Laser Eye Center
The most experienced LASIK surgeon in
Rockland & Orange Counties
The Palisades Laser Eye Center is pleased to introduce the latest advance
in laser vision correction to Rockland County, the
VISX Star S4 Excimer Laser System.
This system truly represents "state of the art" excimer laster technology
for now and into the future.
The VISX Star S4 system features the
only FDA approved 3 dimensional eye tracker.
This allows the laser to automatically follow any eye movement. Unlike older
tracking technologies, this laser can follow up and down movements of the eye
that can occur naturally during breathing. Also, the laser centers on an
undilated pupil - the natural center of vision for the eye. Older, "flying spot"
lasers center on a dilated pupil where the center of vision could be distorted.
The S4 features "variable beam size" technology. This allows the laser to
precisely treat an area of any size on any location of the cornea and removes less
tissue than other laser technologies. Older, "flying spot" laser cannot vary
the laser beam size but are fixed at one diameter.
The VISX laser platform is the most popular excimer laser in the world with
a track record of over 2 million procedures performed in the United States alone.
The overwhelming majority of refractive surgeons in the Unites States use the VISX
laser because of its superior technology and proven track record of success. I've
used it exclusively for thousands of procedures, and I'm proud to have the first and
only VISX laser in Rockland.
